Last Friday, the Kansas City Current announced the name of their new Waterfront District, that CPKC Stadium is a part of.

Current Landing.

It is fitting. The KC Current landed with so much force in the last two seasons when they moved into their new soccer specific stadium designed purposely for them. If you’ve been to the games, crossed the Kit Bond Bridge or been anywhere in the vicinity, you can see that the footprint on the Missouri River is growing.

By the time the 2026 National Women’s Soccer League season kicks off, there will be a lot more to see. From housing, to hotels, to restaurants and a new entryway to the stadium. It will be a prime 2026 FIFA World Cup watch location. Chris and Angie Long will have made an indelible impact on Kansas City. They took an area that was once literally a dumping ground and turned it into a centerpiece of KC.

Below are some renderings (and one current photo) that were released by the team showing the massive scale of their development around the stadium. You can see a massive new screen that is going in for the watch parties and other events, plus many other improvements on the way to the Berkley Riverfront.

Read more about what they are planning.
