KC Current signs Cameroonian defender Nyadjou
WAFCON Champion fills a much-needed spot for the Kansas City Current.
The Kansas City Current announced the signing of Cameroonian defender MaĆ«va Nyadjou to a 3.5-year contract just days before the 2026 NWSL secondary transfer window closes. The move gives the Current a much-needed option in the backline as injuries continue to pile up and as the club heads into the final stretch of the season, still pushing to clinch a playoff spot.Ā
Previously playing for Amazone FAP in the Guinness Super League in Cameroon, Nyadjou arrives in Kansas City after an impressive Womenās African Cup of Nations tournament. She was named the tournamentās Best Young Player and selected to the WAFCON Best XI.
Coming off of Cameroonās first ever championship, Nyadjou started all six matches, scoring the game winning goal against Nigeria, converting her penalty against Morocco in the semifinal shootout, and providing an assist in the final. The Cameroon backline only conceded two goals the entire tournament.Ā
Nyadjouās contract goes through the 2029 season. She is currently awaiting her P-1 visa before joining the Current.Ā

VITALS
Maƫva Nyadjou (mah-eh-VAH nee-AH-joo)
Position: Defender
Birthdate: 10/14/2006 (age 19)
Height: 5-6
Hometown: YaoundĆ©, CameroonĀ
And also released Brewer, who I realize never really got to show anything, but the roster keeps spinning and they are still barely in the playoffs. Nyadjou sounds exciting with her age and WAFCON experience, but there aren’t many more than a few weeks left in the season.
