Across State Lines: Smith Signs with NWSL Expansion Side Denver

Offseason movement continues around the US leagues as players sign for new clubs for the 2026 season. In the NWSL that includes two new expansion teams coming into play. One of those, the Denver Summit have signed former KC NWSL goalkeeper, Abby Smith. Smith spent the last year with the Houston Dash after previously being with Gotham FC. Before that she’d been with the Portland Thorns who KC traded her to in the trade that acquired AD Franch for KC.

Another goalkeeper on the move is Eric Dick, the USL Championship Final MVP for 2025 has moved from the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to Indy Eleven for the 2026 season.
