Former Players
Across State Lines: Palmer-Brown Linked with MLS Return
Former Sporting Kansas City Homegrown Player, Erik Palmer-Brown could be on the move again. Reports last week were that the 29-year-old center back would likely be making a move from Panathinaikos in Greece. According to Kristian Dyer, MLS looks to be the likely landing spot for him. Palmer-Brown has a marauding career in Europe since leaving Sporting KC after the 2017 season to join Manchester City. Palmer-Brown never played for the English club, instead spending his time on loan in Belgium (Kortrijk), Netherlands (NAC Breda), Austria (Austria Wien), and France (Troyes) before joining Troyes full time in 2022. From there, he joined Panathinaikos in 2023. He’s missed a lot of time the past few years dealing with bone marrow condition, but he’s been getting time with the club again this season. Sporting should still hold his MLS rights having made him a bona fide offer before his departure for City. A return to Kansas City though would be hard to see simply because the club is already has one center back on a TAM deal (Moises Mosquera) and another who they seem high on (Or Blorian) plus U22 signing Diego Borges, and wanting to get Ian James time at center back, adding another center back on a high contract wouldn’t seem to make sense.
Here’s the rest of this week’s update.
