Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded the first episode of The Blue Turf for the 2024-25 season. This episode was recorded at the now “World Famous” Kansas City Soccer Dome during part of the first official training session of the new season.

In the first segment, we run through the known player moves and a couple that have not been announced yet. The Comets will be younger, faster, and have more scoring options suited to quick transition. The team feels confident the roster is going to be better than last season when the Comets came up just short in the Ron Newman Cup Finals when they lost to the Chihuahua Savage.

In the second segment, we discuss some of the rule changes in the league and the new single table with twelve teams. There have been a lot of moves around the league so several teams will look different than they did last year. The Comets also announced a team-up with local brand Charlie Hustle.

Will Kansas City be better than last season? Barring some injuries, the team certainly thinks they are a better squad. After making it to the final last season in Stefan Stokic’s first season as the head coach, are the expectations high?
