Sporting KC
Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: More Unwanted Records
Sporting Kansas City set more records this week for the club as their 2026 season continues. A season that will probably go down as one of the worst in the league’s entire history is certainly one of the two worst, if not the worst season in club history. In their 3-1 loss on Saturday to Real Salt Lake, Sporting KC tied or set new unwanted records. Every goal that Sporting concedes the rest of the season will set a new record for most goals conceded in a season. On Saturday, those three moved KC’s record to 75. That also moves Kansas City to within three goals of the league record for most goals conceded in a season. That mark is currently at 78, set by the 2024 San Jose Earthquakes. With four games left and KC averaging 2.5 goals against per game, the question is really just how high Sporting set the new record.
Here are the stats and milestones from Saturday.
Attendance at Sporting Park was announced as 13,873, making it the lowest attended MLS game at Sporting Park since the stadium opened.
Sporting KC tied the club record for regulation losses in a season, 20, that the club set in 2025. Sporting has also tied the club record for home regulation losses at 8, also set in 2025.
Real Salt Lake picked up their 6th league win at Sporting Park. That ties them with FC Dallas for the most wins by an opponent at the stadium. It’s their 7th win in all competitions at the stadium, which is the most by a single opponent.
Zorhan Bassong made his 100th MLS regular season appearance of his career (64 for Kansas City, 36 for Montreal).
Stefan Cleveland made his 50th MLS regular season appearance of his career (21 for KC, 24 for Seattle, 5 for Chicago).
