For the Glory KC is back with the 124th episode of the show!

Sporting Kansas City dropped their most recent match with LAFC 2-0. It was their 11th loss in their last 12 games with the only other result being last week’s draw against Minnesota United. Of course, we have to discuss what happened in the game and what needs to change. But the biggest question, other than the job security of Peter Vermes (which we address), is ‘When will Sporting KC win again?’

The upcoming schedule has games that appear more winnable than others, but nothing about recent trends suggest Sporting KC are in a good position to win. Here are the next 10 games and the team’s current point total:

  • @ FC Dallas (7 points)
  • vs. St. Louis City (8 points)
  • vs. Portland Timbers (7 points)
  • @ San Jose Earthquakes (6 points)
  • @ FC Cincinnati (7 points)
  • vs. LA Galaxy (2 points)
  • @ Portland Timbers (6 points)
  • @ St. Louis City (8 points)
  • @ San Diego FC (8 points)
  • vs. New England Revolution (1 point)

When do you realistically think Sporting KC can win a game? Let us know in the comments.

Beyond the abysmal current state of Sporting Kansas City, Sheena and I delve into the results of the US Open Cup against the Des Moines Menace, talk about the Johan Ortiz signing and Alenis Vargas finds a new home.

Finally, the KC Current had themselves another delightful week. They went on the road and beat the previously perfect Washington Spirit, leaving just KC and Orlando Pride as perfect teams. We delve into some bright spots in the game that included VAR (seriously), Lorena and of course Temwa, including a fantastic Temwa Chawinga stat. Then we talk about the low key signing of Friday Mukoma.

In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few more topics, including:

  • CF Montreal fire their coach
  • Exciting MLS kit news
  • USMNT’s double loss
  • Pro/Rel in the USL
  • and Denver NWSL’s stadium plans

Here is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times):

  • Sporting KC return to their losing ways – 3:47
  • SKC II vs. Des Moines in the Open Cup – 32:43
  • SKC Round-up – 40:13
  • KC Current win a big road game – 45:10
  • New KC Current signing – 53:59
  • Digital Crawl – 55:59

Upcoming Games

  • SKC II @ North Texas – Fri. March 28th at 7:45PM CDT
  • KC Current vs. Utah Royals – Sat. March 29th at 6:30PM
  • Sporting KC @ FC Dallas – Sat. March 29th at 7:30PM

Haven’t listened yet (Sorry Chad) but living in Denver, that stadium plan is exciting. On the light rail, less than half a mile from my office and in a dumpy industrial spot crying out for development. My daughter, who I purposefully dragged to CPKC each of the past two years and was in tears both times, is all ready for season tickets and going all in on fandom because they will be our local team. I may disown her.

KCOutsider

Kinda funny how both Denver and KC women’s teams are showing the stale men’s franchises how it’s done.

ar_jhawk

Unfortunately (for me) the Rapids seem to have turned it around. But it does give me an extra opportunity to be embarrassed by SKC. Last year and this SKC has the 4th of July game here in Denver. Last year the fireworks were great, so there’s that.

KCOutsider

Their stadium situation is still stupid though. Both they and SKC have middle-of-nowhere stadiums compared to CPKC and what Denver NWSL are planning.

Kat

At least in Denver there’s a beautiful wildlife refuge right next to the stadium.

Can’t say I found Nebraska Furniture Mart as scenic.

Have you been INSIDE Nebraska Furniture Mart?

KCOutsider

Kat, if you don’t think there’s native wildlife watching in Nebraska Furniture Mart, you haven’t been in Nebraska Furniture Mart!

Kat

So… is NFM a furniture store covered in animal sh!t? No, no… don’t tell me. I’d rather not know. Some things are best left unknown.

ar_jhawk

I think it might be vice versa…

ar_jhawk

Oh, absolutely.

InToTouch

Sporting will win a game whenever they remember how to defend for 90 minutes.

Joe Pacheco

That hasn’t happened in years lol

Shawn

IMO I think we will figure out a win against Dallas, a tie against St. Louis (they aren’t as good as the standings have them at and I think they’ve only scored 2 goals all season, plus Burki is out) & they lose against Portland.

over the next 3 games it will. Be 1 win, 1 lose and a tie… giving us only 4 pts… still seated at 15th maybe 14th.

i dont even want to try to think of the future to much. It is too heart breaking at this point.

Stu

Yeah it’s getting hard to care anymore. Life is too busy to watch this team lose constantly and if we lose to STL both games that should be the nail in the coffin for Vermes but I doubt even that matters.

ar_jhawk

No, there is no coffin. They’ve already proclaimed this a 3 window rebuild, so Vermes won’t take any heat until this time next year at the earliest.

Stu

Probably true
