Report: Sporting Set to Finally Land Angolan Winger Capemba
Sporting KC are getting closer to acquiring their new winger. Reports yesterday and quotes from Radomiak Radom head coach Goncalo Feio today indicate that Angolan winger, Capita Capemba is set to leave the club with Sporting Kansas City continuing to be the reported landing spot.
Yesterday, Tomasz Włodarczyk, who has previously reported on the transfer saga of Capemba, had reported that Capemba said his goodbyes to his current team after their 3-1 win over Arka Gdynia. A game that saw Capemba score what proved to be the game winner, playing 75 minutes in the win which put Radomiak up to 8th place in the Ekstraklasa. Including his goal on Thursday, Capemba has scored six goals in 20 appearances for the club in the 2025-2026 season in Poland.
Then today in the pre-match press conference ahead of their game on Sunday against GKS Katowice, the club’s head coach, Feio said that Capemba was with the club today for training but on Sunday they planned a farewell for him. Feio said it wasn’t his role to speak on it, but that it seemed he would be leaving to join Sporting.
Back in late February when the report of Sporting’s continued interest came back up, it had been reported that Radomiak wanted to hang onto Capemba until later in MLS’s transfer window to help with their league position. With 11 games remaining in their season, they find themselves two points and four spots out of UEFA Europa Conference League qualification while they are seven points and eight spots out of relegation.
The fee for the 24-year-old Angolan is still reported to be a record fee for the Polish club, around €2.3 million or $2.7 million US. Acquiring Capemba would end a saga, that while not as back and forth as the Cesar Inga saga, none the less long and played out in the local media.
A good signing.
This is another exciting turn of events. Does anyone know if he could see the field before the WC break?
I would say probably. It always comes down to how fast the P1 Visa is approved and when they get it started. I would guess they have the paperwork in progress already if this report is accurate. Some countries are faster and better at processing the paperwork and then it also depends on the US side as well.
So, if this is accurate, he probably gets announced early next week and then probably 3-4 weeks.
Thanks.
It will be a season of incremental improvement. I look forward to it.
