Rankings arrive and Folarin Balogun is back: U.S. Men’s National Team Tracker FIFA World Cup 2026

It’s March, people. We are getting closer to FIFA World Cup 2026… every day.

Thank goodness! U.S. Men’s National Team striker Folarin Balogun got back on the scoresheet for AS Monaco, scoring his sixth of the season. Must have been the heat of Haji Wright – who scored twice for Coventry City over two matches this past week – and Patrick Agyemang and Ricardo Pepi’s latest scoring exploits.

Attacking midfielders and wing backs are in the news as well as Weston McKennie got back on the score sheet for Juventus midweek, yet Malik Tillman was again sidelined by an ankle injury. Wing back Max Arfsten’s performance with Columbus Crew sees him pushing a once-again on the bench Antonee Robinson.

Big news: Finally, they are here: Rankings. Ahhh, putting out rankings is risky and can bite one on the backside… But they are fun! And they make their debut on our U.S. Men’s National Team tracker for the first time. And they will stay here from here until the 2026 FIFA World Cup roster is announced. It’s March, people. We are getting closer… every day.

All in all, 27 of the 34 top candidates for the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer started for their clubs across Europe and Major League Soccer with two others seeing time.

The first match of the FIFA World Cup on June 12 is approaching somewhat rapidly for the U.S. Men’s National Team. A strong showing as one of the three host countries with Mexico and Canada is a must. Anything else is unacceptable. Coach Mauricio Pochettino will be faced with whittling the roster down to 26 players for the three group stage matches… and beyond. Maybe, just maybe, the USMNT will end up in Kansas City for a quarterfinal.

Thus, we will be following the top players (at the moment) who are the strongest candidates for the final roster per the latest callups and history. Who fits the 3-4-2-1 formation Pochettino seems to now favor? How much playing time is each seeing? Are they being productive? Will a strong show of form mean a surprise addition, and subsequent subtraction, from the roster?

I feel like Tim Ream should be farther down that list given how Charlotte has started this season. I enjoyed seeing where you rate these guys, especially since I’m not as on top of other leagues.
On a different note, what has happened to Musah? I feel like he was important in 2022, but I haven’t heard anything about him in a minute.
