Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded the latest episode of The Blue Turf. We were back at the “World Famous” Kansas City Soccer Dome.

In the first of three segments on the pod, we discuss the two wins at Harrisburg. Two very different games but two wins for the Comets. We also discuss the next two matches for the Comets, at home to host Utica and then on the road to Milwaukee to face long-time rival Wave. We also hint at a big trade for the Comets.

Note: We did not reveal the trade in the first segment because it was unknown if would be completed in time to post the podcast.

The next segment we break the news that the Comets are making a trade. the Comets acquire Stefan Mijatovic from the Tacoma Stars in exchange for cash considerations. We break down everything that we know about the trade and what it means for the Comets and Mijatovic. The third segment has Kansas City head coach Stefan Stokic on to discuss the recent games and the trade.

Mijatovic is a tall (6’4″) defender who can contribute offensively, with 40 goals and 30 assists in 80 games. He has bounced through several teams in his career but played well enough to be an MASL All-Star this year. He was on suspension until completing certain conditions after an incident earlier in the season. He has been cleared to play by the league and the Comets.
Will have additional updates later in the day.
