Sporting Kansas City opened the 2026 MLS season with a disappointing result on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes, losing 3-0 at PayPal Park on Saturday night. A lack of attacking threats and some poor set piece defending did KC in. Here are the stats and milestones from the game.

Four players (Meyer, Reid, Reynolds, Harris) made their first start for Sporting KC last night. That’s the most in a single league game for KC since 2019 when four players (Adrian Zendejas, Gedion Zelalem, Nicolas Hasler, and Rodney Wallace) made their first start against FC Cincinnati.

At 19 years, 239 days, Kwaku Agyabeng became the 14th youngest player to appear in a league game for KC.

Agyabeng became he 17th youngest player to appear in a game in all competitions for KC.

The loss was John Pulskamp’s 41st in all competitions, tying him with Jimmy Nielsen for 3rd all time on that list.

It was his 35th league loss, tying him with Kevin Hartman for 4th all time on that list.
