CPKC Stadium Welcomes the World with First International Friendly
From hosting the NWSL Championship to inter-league and college tournaments, CPKC Stadium now hosts its first international game… but it’s not the USWNT.

The Kansas City Current announced that CPKC Stadium will host its first international friendly on April 5th at 4:30 CT between Mexico and Jamaica, as part of the third annual MexTour W. This is an important game for both squads to prepare for World Cup qualifications which are set begin in late 2025.
The MexTour is a set of games played on U.S. soil to connect the Mexican National Teams with the Hispanic-American population. The Mexican Federation launched this annual campaign in 2002 with the men’s team and in recent years, the women’s team has joined to inspire and pave the way for the next generation.

While the rosters will be announced at a later date, a few familiar NWSL faces are expected to join on both sides, including San Diego’s Maria Sánchez, Houston’s Diana Ordóñez, and Bay FC’s former Scarlett Camberos for Mexico. Meanwhile, Jamaica’s team has Kansas City connections with former Kansas City Current goalkeeper Sydney Schneider and former FC Kansas City forward Tiffany Cameron, who will make her first return to KC since 2013.
Mexico started last year’s international calendar hot by defeating the USWNT for the first time in the group stage of the Women’s Gold Cup. They finished 2024 with a record of 6-2-2 with a FIFA ranking of #31. Jamaica ended 2024 with a record of 2-5-0, ranking #40. These two teams last met at the Pan American Games in October 2023, where Mexico won 7-0.
