The Blue Turf: Three straight wins but the Sockers are next
Listen to the latest episode of The Blue Turf podcast

Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded the latest episode of The Blue Turf. Stay tuned for the second segment with Coach Stefan Stokic.
Two wins in the books, a last-minute 7-6 win at the Dallas Sidekicks and a more comfortable 7-3 win back in Kansas City over the Harrisburg Heat. Adding those to the win over the defending champion Chihuahua Savage makes it a solid three-game win streak. We break down what went right and some of what went wrong. Some young players were able to get a chance and they showed the coach their quality.
Comets might be on a three-game win streak but their next match is against the last team to beat them. The Sockers were the better team back in San Diego but this time they will meet in Kansas City at 7 PM on Friday. It’s an important game for the Comets. With a win, then can leap over the Sockers and set themselves up for a good run in the second half of the season.
We also discuss the All-Star game next week wish six Kansas City players participating and Stokic coaching one squad.
After Erik departs, I bring Coach Stokic on for segment two to talk about the Comets and the All-Star game as well. Did Stokic and his team captain have a draft strategy? Is it true that Stokic might be working an All-Star game trade to gather all of the Comets on one side?
One of the interesting bits of info we discuss was provided by KC Soccer Journal stats guru Mike Kuhn. Check out one of his regular articles Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats that he does after each match.
