Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: Luiz Makes Debut

Published

The rough season for Sporting Kansas City continued on Saturday night at Sporting Park as Sporting fell to the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0. The loss was KC’s sixth straight without a win. KC has just one win since the return to play from the World Cup and now has one win in their last nine league games. The winless run has them starting to come up to the worst season in Kansas City’s history based on points, the 1999 KC Wizards season. With fifteen points through twenty-two games, Sporting has just one more point than the Wizards had in the 1999 season. In fact, KC has themselves in a position where not winning next weekend against FC Dallas will put Sporting behind the pace of the 1999 team.

Here are the stats and milestones from last night.

Sporting KC lost their 6th straight game to the Vancouver Whitecaps. They’ve been held scoreless in their last 4, while conceding 11 goals in those 4 games.

Andre Luiz is the 290th player to appear in a league game for Kansas City.

Luiz is the 308th player to appear in a game in all competitions.

Stephen Afrifa made his 47th substitute appearance in all competitions, tying him with Felipe Hernandez for 10th all time on that list.

It was Afrifa’s 42nd substitute appearance in MLS competitions, tying him with Soony Saad and CJ Sapong for 11th all time on that list.

Afrifa made his 42nd substitute appearance in league play for KC, breaking his tie with Sapong, Teal Bunbury, Ryan Pore, and Marinos Tzionis for 10th all time on that list.
