REPORT: Sporting KC interested in Argentine winger
According to a report, SKC made a “formal request for a quote” on 21-year-old Gerónimo Rivera.
Sporting KC are interested in 21-year-old Argentine winger Gerónimo Rivera, according to César Luis Merlo. The report claims there has been a “formal request for a quote” from Rivera’s current club, Club Atlético Banfield.

While there is plenty to like about this rumor, it is still very much just that. A rumor. MLS fans are used to wild rumors from nameless accounts on the far corners of the internet, but this report coming from Merlo likely carries more weight.
The Journal has not received any word on the validity of this report from Sporting KC at the time of posting.
Rivera appeared in 30 matches across all competitions in 2024, recording four goals and three assists. Banfield finished 27th out of 28 teams in The Primera División this year. The left-footed winger stands at 5’6″ (1.70m).
The pacey winger shows off plenty strength and skill on his highlight reels. In both 1v1 situations, and navigating through traffic. You’ll even see him leave a defender rolling around on the ground trying to head the ball as he scurries away. (I’ve marked the video below for you.)

I also have hope this is legit. And the reporter with the original tweet, as Cody notes, is more reputable.
