Sporting KC set for lowest point total ever in a 34-game season
Even if they win their last two games, they would still set a new season-low in club history.
The last hope in 2024 came and went with the US Open Cup Final loss. With just two games left in the MLS season, Sporting KC will soon finish with the fewest points in club history for a 34-game season.
Here’s the stat from Mike Kuhn.
To add on to my sad stat from earlier about losses, #SportingKC's max point total is at 37 now, meaning even if KC win their final 2 games they will finish with the fewest points in a 34 game season in club history. Prior low was 38 pts in 2019.

SKC will face LAFC at home and FC Dallas on the road to close out the season. They’ve avoided the Wooden Spoon even if they fail to score another point. Therefore, we expect to continue seeing a lot more of Stephen Afrifa and Alenis Vargas.
On the latest episode of Shades of Blue, we’re talking about what to watch for in the final two otherwise meaningless matches.
The show (reluctantly) discusses Sporting KC’s loss against sT. LoUiS cItY sC, as well as the US Open Cup Final loss against LAFC. Plus predictions for how the KC Current will finish the NWSL season.
