Staying Alive!
Fantastic win for SKC and we discuss
“Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive (oh)Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive (oh)” – Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees
We promise there is no singing on the pod but we had to record a quick episode after Sporting Kansas City’s 4-1 win over the Colorado Rapids. Did anyone think it would happen? Well… one person predicted it…
I was talking to @TheBackpost before the game and asked him for his prediction tonight.
He said 4-1 #SportingKC victory. pic.twitter.com/SSMiDeYPwU

Hear a bit of the backstory about the prediction. A totally, very serious prediction with a witness.
More importantly, what led to this excellent match by Sporting KC and a pair of braces. Pulido played and scored like peak Pulido. Thommy looked great off the bench and both of them could have notched hattricks.
SKC manager Peter Vermes rotated the roster and made a number of substitutions with schedule congestion and managing the lineup for the big U.S. Open Cup Final that is quickly approaching. What was different this match? Was Colorado just bad that night or did Sporting Kansas City find the right mix that night?
We pick players that stood out in the match. Obviously the players with a brace each but who else stood out?
Should Sporting KC still go all out Saturday with slim chances to make the playoffs or sacrifice the Minnesota game in Kansas City? All in? “Go for both? What would we do? What would you do?
The bigger question is what will Sporting KC do?

They don’t deserve to be in the playoffs. Management and Peter Vermes have done a crappy job of providing quality play. Squeaking into the playoff should be further reason for terminating Vermes contract and sending him way down the road. If you can’t play at the beginning of the season like the team place at the end of the season, then we need a new manager. Frankly, we need a new manager, no matter what.
WTH Someone could post pictures of puppies and you’d post the same diatribe. We get it. Everyone understands you hate Vermes and you think he should be gone. Do you tell people you jump into the street that as well? Your email sig at work? End your prayers with ‘God bless Mommy and Daddy and Peter Vermes must be replaced. Amen’?
Sorry I offended your love of mediocrity. As a season ticket holder, I’m tired of throwing away money on a team that is always “rebuilding”. Vermes has out lived his stay and it’s time for him to go.
Well, I DO see a solution to the throwing away money problem…
I’ll take whatever. I’m just tired of seeing poor play. There haven’t been consequences for underperforming players. Injuries haven’t been bad this year. I guess I throw as much shade at those whom make decisions because it’s so obvious to a casual fan how poorly the team is run. That’s a top to bottom call out, not just for PV.
It was nice to see Pulido score. Exactly like I said though. He can’t score with Salloi on the pitch. Afrifa made us dangerous up front. Afrifa, Vargas, and Agada should play all the time. I’m cheering for the team to make the playoffs because I love this team. Zero hope we’ll win mls cup this year.
