Across State Lines: Busio Signing New Deal with Venezia?

Published

on

Gianluca Busio

Former Sporting Kansas City Homegrown Player, Gianluca Busio looks like we’ll be staying in Venice with Venezia FC. Reports out of Europe are that Busio is signing a contract extension with Venezia that will keep him with the club through 2029. It’s a bit of a surprising move if it comes to pass because many speculated that he’d be looking to remain in Serie A after Venezia’s relegation last year. After some early rumors though there hasn’t been anything in the last month or so linking Busio with a move away from Venezia. Staying with Venezia would have Busio again fighting to get the club promoted from Serie B again this year.

Elsewhere, two former Kansas City players current clubs are in financial trouble as their seasons approach or start. In England, former Sporting KC player, Yann Songo’o’s current club, Morecambe FC is in financial trouble after their relegation out of the EFL at the end of last season. A deal for new ownership hasn’t gone through and as such, Morecambe didn’t start their season last weekend like the rest of the National League did and the possibility of the club going under grows. Meanwhile, in Australia, Western United, current club of former KC Current player, Chloe Berryhill (nee Logarzo), was striped of their A-League license, which puts their future at risk as well on both the men’s and women’s side. The club has appealed the decision.

Here is the rest of this week’s update.
