what is the deal with no salloi?

Kat

Game day decision, groin injury.

KCOutsider

Apparently that’s the deal. Shelton should’ve been trying to pass to opposition players all along…

kcrews123

I Gotta say that the cross from Shelton there was a beauty. That was going to be perfect for Pulido

SportingXK

Umm…Incredible finish!

KCOutsider

Kinda > Messi

jdkus11

I only wish this was league play.

KCOutsider

OK, who rewound time to the 2018 versions of these teams?

SportsChum

Rosero!

Kat

I hate that this team being up 2-0 12 minutes in is not giving me enough peace of mind.

KCOutsider

I’m telling myself this is their scoring pace, not their total.

SportsChum

I’d feel a lot better if they can get at least one more.

KCSpurs1996

Your instincts are correct at least 🙁

Kat

While I saw an implosion coming, I certainly didn’t see it like this.

KCOutsider

Two big stops for Pulskamp already.

Kat

Wow. What a choice by Pulido.

KCOutsider

Just devastating. I can see the provocation but there’s just absolutely no excuse for a violent head-butt like that. You have to be a pro in that situation. And what a hole he just put SKC in, tonight, and next match.

Good thing SKC are known for their solid defense.

Shawn Gillogly

Leading with the head is unforgivable.

wet water

I suspect he’ll get more than one game.

Ruleslawyer

100% a red to Pulido, but that should absolutely be a 2nd yellow for Mosquera.

MisterMurse

Yup. In what world was that an acceptable response?

I’m glad they curbed my blossoming excitement about being able to compete this season/tournament.

Kat

Being a Sporting fan means a never ending lesson in managing expectations.

MisterMurse

It’s like dealing with kids. Switching between pride and praise to “what the hell was that?” Every two seconds.

kcrews123

What in the world Pulido?!

Shawn Gillogly

And not a minute until Sporting concedes. From a set piece, of course.

Shawn Gillogly

Whelp, we didn’t want an easy game. How does Pulido do that?

kcrews123

Welp that was quick. That was a fun 30 minutes though

This team is such a disappointment

SportsChum

sucks…

Tatito

I’ve seen this story line before…. 2 up and then give it up

Wes

This team is pure pain, feel like every game is just the Herm Edwards era of the Chiefs

KCSpurs1996

2 goals for Sporting in 10 minutes, Pulido red card for a headbutt, we give up an OG immediately after the sending off, and a weather delay. Can’t say I had any of those on my bingo card tonight

Last edited 2 years ago by KCSpurs1996
dal90

i guess i get why it’s an OG technically, but it still seems pretty harsh to call it that for Pulskamp

KCSpurs1996

Agreed, it was unlucky for him. It looks like Walter was supposed to be marking the guy and completely lost track of him in the box.

Tatito

On another note, how many tickets will be tried to be sold back or lost now that Pulido won’t be playing this week. Have a feeling a lot of the Mexican folk that wanted to see him play will be pissed

KCOutsider

In fairness, anyone who wanted to see Pulido play could go to any SKC home or road game. I’d think that Chivas fans would be coming to see their team, period, not just Pulido. He might be a bonus if they otherwise wouldn’t attend an SKC match, but would his absence really cause lots of folk to not come at all? He’s not THAT big a star.

Josh Wallace

Ah that seems so out of character for Pulido. Why headbutt him? If he had just pushed him back with one arm the same way he got pushed, the ref would’ve let it go (probably), but a headbutt? Cmon man.

Kat

Right? He’s one of the last guys out of this group I’d think would pop off like that.

KCOutsider

Yeah, I just can’t fathom it. Seems wildly out of character for him. Did the FCC player say something? It didn’t look like it on the replay. Not trying to make excuses, just really confused about the level of aggression there.

jdkus11

Maybe I’m biased, but in watching the replays it looks like he’s trying to get in the guy’s face, but then the Cincy player is also coming at him so when Pulido lunges forward, he head butts the guy. Still definitely a red and a bad decision on Pulido’s part, but I think there’s a lot more theatrics going on there than a violent head butt from Pulido.

Josh Wallace

Honestly, the more and more I watch the replay, I think your right. I don’t think Pulido was trying to intentionally hurt him. I think he was trying to get his head into his chest with his head down and didn’t really notice Mosquera was coming towards him.

SportsChum

I agree with you.

KCOutsider

I’d like to think you’re right, if nothing else because it’s more in character for Pulido. I’m not sure how to read his body language afterward. He doesn’t look angry at all, almost confused, which fits your theory.

dal90

i mean the Cincy guy just randomly hit him…that wasn’t a “soccer play” either…

SportsChum

We’ll miss Pulido against Chivas… But how’s Agada been? Any chance he’ll be available?

David in the Chat

Injured.

Steve

I hate that the refs are so willing to let players push and shove eachother after plays like the player under pulido. if they would just pull immediate yellows, it would stop. when they made taking off your shirt a yellow, it mostly exited the game, and players only do it when it is “worth” it. the same could be done for after play bumping and shoving. if they would just pull the yellow, the players would stop doing it. yes, at first it would seem extreme, then it would dissappear.

wet water

I really don’t know why the Cinci player didn’t get a yellow. I agree with the red of course, but why’d the Cinci player get nothing? You can shove a guy as long as they retaliate worse?

KCSpurs1996

He was already on a yellow, which in theory should put him on thin ice, but oddly it seems like a yellow often buys a player more leeway, especially if it’s early in the game

Ruleslawyer

Which is wild because there is no “2nd yellow” rule in the laws of the game. I’d like to see another official call mandatory yellows, and have them called consistently across all games. Maybe a NY style review like MLB for all games.

It’s still early, but so far FIFA Women’s World Cup has done a much better job of AR/VAR calling tight technical calls according to the rules.

KCSpurs1996

I see your point but pushing happens 1,000 times in a game almost always without incident…but you can’t respond by lunging forward like that, even though I don’t think he intended to headbutt the dude in the face. He could have just pushed back and the skirmish would have been broken up by the ref and everyone moves on…ideally he would have not retaliated in any way, but I understand emotions run hot in the heat of the game

Last edited 2 years ago by KCSpurs1996
Steve

I agree that it happens so much, and my critique isn’t specific to this play.

but if you look at this play, yhe Cincinnati guy doesn’t shove if he know he would get a 2nd yellow, and pulido doen’t jump up/at him the same way if knows that a retaliation gets him a yellow. then there is nothing for the ref to break up. This wouldn’t happen overnight, or maybe even in one season, but if there was a true no tolerance commitment, it would be significantly reduced.

I would just like to see it treated a little more seriously when players are making non-soccer contact after plays. players consistently do what they can get away with, and it has been shown that an after play shove usually won’t cost you anything. I’m pretty sure they did it a few years back in the NBA, and everyone got mad, but then a significant amount of the after play pushing went away, and now no one remembers it

KCSpurs1996

Ahh gotcha, I was only looking at it from the context of the Pulido red, but yeah I tend to agree with you in a broad sense that a crackdown would help to clean things up

Josh Wallace

If i’m making a substitution, I think its got to be Kayden Pierre for Shelton. It may sound crazy, but Pierre is better in defense and will play more aggressively on the counter. Shelton is essentially playing a wingback role anyways so why not play an actual wingback.

Josh Wallace

Matt Miazga coming in for FC Cinncy means at some point, they are going to start lumping crosses into the box. PV might need a counter for that.

jdkus11

What is Thommy doing on this PK? He’s lucky we didn’t get that called back for him running into the box like that. Glad we’re back on top though. Definitely wasn’t expecting that.

KCSpurs1996

Am I seeing things, or have we been getting the stadium light celebration sequence for all of our goals? Thought that was only meant for when Cincinnati scores lol

twm

How is Fontas giving his man 5 yards of free space directly in front of goal every sequence?

dal90

does not enjoy being close to gross, sweaty dudes (understandable)

SportsChum

Someone needs to be in Acosta’s face

Josh Wallace

Khiry!!! Cmon man!

jdkus11

Does Tzionis get that? Good chance. But also, I won’t crap on Khiry, he’s honestly had a decent night. Still shouldn’t be in the contract he’s on, but he’s better than he has been.

Josh Wallace

He’s oddly been really solid in that wingback role in the second half, but man….one on one with the keeper. That has to be a goal. Tzionis probably scores that.

SportsChum

Right down the middle..

dal90

i’m actually a shelton fan all things considered…but holy shit

dal90

one man wall worked….huh

dal90

only guy i’ve seen more snake-bitten in front of goal than shelton (any team/league) was connor hallesy

Josh Wallace

Connor Hallasey! Thats a throwback.

jdkus11

After tonight, I’m not sure how you can justify keeping McIntosh in goal over Pulskamp.

Josh Wallace

Honestly, i dont think there was ever a great justification for it in the first place.

kcrews123

Sure would have been great if Shelton had put away a shot for once……

Tatito

Like taxes, can’t count on him or fontas

David in the Chat

These announcers really like Cincy and really don’t like us.

David in the Chat

😂😂😂😂 downvote. Ok

David in the Chat

Also, this ref doesn’t like us much. But the feeling is mutual

MisterMurse

Honestly, the ref has done well. Minimal dissent. People warned prior to getting yellows. Bad tackles given yellows after resolution of the play. Calls are pretty consistent as well.

David in the Chat

I’m more so referencing Roger getting one for dissent.

Whomever downvoted is a jabroni. 😂😂😂

MisterMurse

Roger was walking back and allowed that space at the top of the 18 in the final seconds. Roger also was warned multiple times to clear off. Nah. Don’t trash good officiating.

David in the Chat

Who was trashing him? Where did i criticize him at all?

Josh Wallace

Yeah, gotta disagree with that one. This ref has been pretty fair throughout the game. Not much either team can complain about.

David in the Chat

It’s so clear that you and the Murse missed my point.

MisterMurse

Your comment seemed like a “biased ref” one. You didn’t mention it was about Roger’s card until later.

Josh Wallace

A downvote? cmon dude. and what was your point? you said “ref doesn’t like us much” Your clearly critiquing the ref. If no one got your point, it’s because maybe the one you had didn’t make sense.

David in the Chat

You’re* 😉

Josh Wallace

While we are critiquing, there is a period at the end of mutual.

David in the Chat

Well played. Are you done or are we going to keep this unnecessary pissing match going?

Josh Wallace

I was never in a pissing match. You just couldn’t let go of the fact that people disagreed with your comment and had to follow it up with passive aggressiveness. You should work on that. Have a great night.

David in the Chat

I’ll add your suggestions to the list. No promises I’ll get to it, douche.

MisterMurse

Really? That was uncalled for.

David in the Chat

I didn’t criticize the ref. I made a comment after Roger crawled up his ass and got a yellow. Also after watching Vermes lose his shit.

Smh.

dal90

wait did they call that handball against davis or rosero??

MisterMurse

Rosero

dal90

are you for real? i’m pretty sure it was more of a handball against davis if anything

MisterMurse

No, rosero moved to extend his elbow to block the shot. Even with arms behind his back he extended his elbow, thus yellow and PK.

Josh Wallace

Ah, this might be a challenge. I don’t think SKC has many great penalty-takers out there right now.

twm

If there’s any silver lining, I’m honestly shocked that Shelton took the best kick of the bunch.

KCSpurs1996

Harsh penalty but we were getting pummeled by Cincy’s attack over and over, something bad was bound to happen

KCSpurs1996

downvote troll strikes again! if you disagree, say why lol

David in the Chat

Someone is really salty tonight. I upvoted you for being a spurs fan and suffering the wrath of the trolllllll

KCSpurs1996

As Spurs fans, we have both endured far worse haha. Yeah I have mixed feelings about the downvote button on here…I don’t mind at all people disagreeing with me or downvoting, but I try to comment in good faith and wish the habitual downvoters would do the same instead just clicking a button. I get why it’s there but the downside is it waters down the quality of interactions.

Josh Wallace

Pulskamp has got to save one of these.

twm

He didn’t come close once unfortunately.

David in the Chat

He guessed right on Acosta. Too much pace.

Josh Wallace

Yeah Pulskamp had to save at least one because you knew someone was going to miss with the usual takers out. I dont even think he went the right way on any of them.

kcrews123

He almost got a hand to Acosta’s. There was just too much power on it

kcrews123

What a joke. It’s truly amazing how jo matter what, we cannot close out a game and continue to let goals slip in the dying seconds.

KCSpurs1996

As they say, we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory

dal90

let’s call this one a tie

Tatito

This further cements fontas sorry self on my book as one of the worst signings. You honestly can’t tell me a guy from swope Park rangers can’t replace him?

KCSpurs1996

Would be curious to know how rare it is to have both a PK goal and OG for each team in a single game

Jacie20

I’m just so tired of watching this team.

SportsChum

SKC was better besides the couple brutal mistakes that lead directly to Cinci goals. Tough way to end a game… reminds me of how I felt watching the 90’s Chiefs in playoff football.

Wes

We have one KC team that is never out of a game and can always win and we have another team that is never really in the game and can always find a way to lose; then there are the royals who at this point just seem to be happy that their paychecks are still clearing
