It was a rough weekend for Kansas City’s professional soccer teams, especially at home. On Saturday night, Sporting KC let a 1-0 lead slip away, losing 2-1 to the visiting Los Angeles FC. On Sunday the KC Current let an early 2-0 lead slip away as they fell 3-2 to the Washington Spirit. There was a little success by the end of the weekend though, as Sporting KC II went on the road and defeated Los Angeles FC 2 2-0. Here are the stats and milestones from this weekend.
Sporting KC
Alan Pulido scored the 900th goal in all competitions at home in Kansas City’s history.
At 32 years, 101 days, Pulido became the 19th oldest player to score a goal for KC in league play or in all competitions.
Pulido’s goal was his 19th in league play, tying him with Teal Bunbury, Felipe Gutierrez, and Krisztian Nemeth for 16th all time on that list.
It was Pulido’s 20th goal in MLS competitions, tying him with Nemeth for 17th all time on that list.
The goal was Pulido’s 21st in all competitions, tying him with Mark Chung and Chris Brown for 18th all time on that list.
Pulido made his 50th appearance in MLS competitions, he’s the 83rd player to reach that mark.
Johnny Russell made his 176th appearance in all competitions, breaking his tie with Chance Myers for 16th all time on that list.
It was Russell’s 163rd appearance in MLS competitions, tying him with Matt McKeon for 16th all time on that list.
In the 25th minute, Daniel Salloi passed Johnny Russell and moved into 19th place for minutes played in MLS competitions. In the 68th minute, Salloi then passed Jimmy Nielsen and moved into 18th place all time on that list. Salloi finished the game with 12,480 minutes played.
