I was far too optimistic that since LA is Puiq-less, that maybe Sporting has just a teensy bit of a chance…and then I realized Shelton and Basssong are our starting fullbacks, and I lost the majority of my faith
I know he had a very good assist last game, but Khiry is just not a right back! He has no idea where to be positionally and drifts central almost every play. That being said, I know we don’t really have any other options, especially since Jake may have to be put in the midfield. Injuries play a huge role, but roster construction is just as much a culprit for Shelton being played at RB…
Pierre is on the bench. An ACTUAL right back has to be the best option if Davis is needed elsewhere, no? Carrying only 2 right backs isn’t a construction problem. Refusing to play one is a manager problem
I am watching LA galaxy players move in anticipation that we never go forward. When they cut off the backwards pass we panic.

For the love of all things holy, please take Khiry Shelton off at half time. He has had four giveaways, several miss touches and just doesnt seem to have a feel for playing right back. Truly I like Shelton’s versatility and when SKC are on the front foot, bringing him in for 15 minutes at right back makes sense, but why play him over two young right backs you have on your squad? If you want more attacking put Pierre in!
And for Vargas: he does not look comfortable on the on the left. If you were going to play Khiry for the partnership with Vargas he has to play on the right.
Not to mention Shelton watch Joveljic get two shots off in the box.
The announcers said it: There are no attempts to attack the space behind the defenders. Everyone is running back to get the ball.
There’s just no way this is the best possible 11 for a team that desperately needs wins

He looks like some time on the bench has done him well. His movement has improved and he’s playing so much more forward. He’s gonna get some minutes next match-up.

I know LA has a big advantage over KC in terms of “curb appeal” for player recruitment…but still…the gulf in player quality between the two teams is shocking

That article, coupled with a man advantage win against a bad and aging team, has nearly done me in.
Would like to see Agada finish a bit more precise, but he was far more of a threat than Pulido. Afrifa has really nice handles on him, hope to see more of him. Would like to see him out there with Vargas.
