It wasn’t a great weekend in Minnesota for Sporting KC’s first team as they fell 3-1 to Minnesota United. One of the bright spots of the game was Johnny Russell taking over sole possession of 2nd all time for league goals scored for KC. Sunday went better for Sporting KC II as they won a thriller 4-3 over Minnesota United 2. Here are the stats and milestones from the weekend.

Sporting KC

Johnny Russell scored his 58th goal in league play for KC, breaking his tie with Dom Dwyer for 2nd all time on that list.

It was his 59th goal in MLS competitions, tying him with Dwyer for 2nd all time on that list.

Russell’s goal was his 23rd in all competitions away from home for KC, tying him with Josh Wolff for 3rd all time on that list.

In the 65th minute, Russell passed Benny Feilhaber and moved into 13th place all time for minutes played across all competitions for KC. He finished the game with 15,586 minutes played.

Daniel Salloi made is 195th appearance in league play, tying him with Jack Jewsbury for 12th all time on that list.

Salloi made his 54th substitute appearance in all competitions, tying him with Chris Brown for 6th all time on that list.

It was his 41st substitute appearance in MLS competitions, tying him with Teal Bunbury for 12th all time on that list.

Salloi made his 39th substitute appearance in league play, breaking his tie with Soony Saad for 13th all time on that list.

Khiry Shelton made his 46th substitute appearance in MLS competitions, breaking his tie with Felipe Hernandez for 7th all time on that list.

Shelton made his 43rd substitute appearance in league play, tying him with Jacob Peterson for 6th all time on that list.

Sporting KC II

Sebastian Cruz’s 2 goals gave him 8 in league play for KC, tying him with Josh Coan for 10th all time on that list.

The goals gave Cruz 8 in all competitions for KC as well tying him with Coan, Dane Kelly, and Tyler Blackwood for 11th all time on that list.

Beto Avila’s goal gave him 6 in league play for KC, tying him with Kelly, Kevin Oliveira, Tyler Freeman, Rauf Salifu, Ozzie Cisneros, and Alenis Vargas for 16th all time on that list.

The goal gave Avila 6 in all competitions as well, tying him with Oliveira, Freeman, Salifu, Cisneros, and Vargas for 17th all time on that list.
