Im gonna give Vermes credit, rather than go back to the old guard he’s sticking with the guys who showed some fight. I like Tzionis on the wing over Afrifa. If he can put on even a good display today his stock will rise.

jdkus11

He’s already had several good runs and that nice play in the box with Agada. I like that he’s pushing the pace up the wing rather than slowing it down and then having to turn it back.

Josh Wallace

Agreed! He is doing his stock wonders right now. I also think he’s doing a great job of tracking back and helping the midfield too. I’d love to see some more combination play between him in Bassong and Felipe. They just dont have the best connection at the moment.

KCOutsider

Giving Vermes credit for this is like giving your kid credit for finally cleaning his room after being told to 10 times and there’s now mold coming through the floorboards.

jdkus11

I don’t think it will do much, but I am glad to see PV keep the starters on the bench. They need to earn their spot. Seeing an XG differential of -8 is tough though.

I’m really interested to see Vargas play tonight, and hope that Willy gains some confidence back. Really disappointed that Pulskamp isn’t getting the start tonight. It’d be really nice if at halftime they put Pulido on, and let him play with Vargas and Tzonis for at least fifteen minutes. All that being said, I’m extremely un-optimistic for this game. This is one of the first ones where I’ve felt so incredibly sure that they’re going to lose, and pose by a decent amount.

dancey.prancy

Kinda strange that our chance to score a goal, is by getting corner kicks, lol.

jdkus11

I dislike Bassong. No big reason, I’m just not impressed with him at all.

jdkus11

Looks like Melia was getting into Jake pretty good on that one, with good reason

Josh Wallace

Ahhhh Castellanos and Davis had been playing so well. Castellanos has to cut out that cross and Davis has to see whats behind him. Its these type of preventable goals that have been killing us all season.

dancey.prancy

Jake blew it, both in giving up the possession, and losing yhe mark on his man, but I really feel like Radoja or Bassong should’ve gotten to it, as Minnesota got possession. Really unfortunate goal.

Josh Wallace

Agreed! I thought Castellanos should have cut out the cross but before that, Bassong has to track the runner, he runs to Radoja’s man and then forces Castellanos to run across field to cut out a cross.

Josh Wallace

Outside of the goal, SKC hasn’t played bad. SKC just could not string any passes together. Right now Felipe is invisible in the midfield. He’s playing way too far from the other two midfielders. His heat map shows he’s basically playing right next to Tzionis. It’s part of the reason why he has 14 touches and Radoja and Rodriguez each have over 30. That should never be the case when you have numbers in the midfield.

0 shots on goal seems like not playing well lol. They suck.

Josh Wallace

My comment was on the first half, and I never said they were playing well, just not bad. Outside of the goal, they were solid defensively and had some good opportunities they didn’t take advantage of. Not bad, not good.

Jacie20

My guy. What game were you watching.

dancey.prancy

I agree with Josh Wallace, in the first half, Sporting looked somewhat promising. After Minnesota scored they lost some steam, but before that, Sporting looked relatively creative, their front line wasn’t playing amazing, but playing okay. Their back line struggled, and thd goal they gave up was atrocious, but overall the first half wasn’t awful.

Joe Pacheco

Either Jake needs rest or his give a s*** is gone!!

Wes

It definitely seems like after the Miami game he has changed mentally, I don’t know if it’s because got that big contract or Messi made him look like a child or what. This team mentally is just a mess and I honestly don’t see it changing anytime soon. Rebuild time

dancey.prancy

I’m really interested to see Johnny play with a winger who is not Salloi

dancey.prancy

Welp…

dancey.prancy

Dont worry, our savior, Daniel Salloi is here to take it over the touch line.

Josh Wallace

Ugh Agada. Why not just shoot?

skcfanipromise

Agada, before Vermes, would “just shoot.”

kcrews123

As soon as he arrived jn KC anx he was on the field, he’d take a shot if the ball touched his foot or head within 30ft of goal. Now he’s worried about taking extra touches, trying to maneuver a certain way, etc. I think the “system” has neutralized his spark that he obviously had when he got here

A&W

The way Vermes wants these guys to play is not what they’re doing on the field. I can’t count how many times in his tenure he’s said some variation of “shoot the ball and make them react and a lot of times good things happen” or “put the ball in the box and his things happen.” He wants them to play keep-away so the opponent will chase and when their shape breaks he wants them to play through the cracks and when the ball is close to goal he wants them to shoot. They’re just not.

KCOutsider

In other words, Vermes is a terrible coach if none of the players can manage to follow such basic instructions.

A&W

Have you ever heard Vermes talk about his philosophy? He WANTS them to shoot a lot. “Put the ball into dangerous spots and good things happen.” It’s practically his motto. Players say it all the time. Agada isn’t shooting because he’s trying too hard to be perfect to get out of his rut. Happens to tons of players. Vermes, to his credit, is giving Willy minutes despite that hesitation because the most consistently tried and true way out is through

KCOutsider

Vermes hasn’t given Agada minutes all year until desperation forced him to. If he’d been rotating players to give the whole bench real developmental time they might actually be effective.

skcfanipromise

Same game, same XG story.
