We have to get more from the winger position. You can’t play effectively on offense in a 4-3-3 formation without at least one dangerous winger.
Shapi may have heard you
haha i was thinking the same thing! I think not even a few minutes after i commented he scored.
Shapi heard you and said, “Hold my beer.”
Stumped on how that’s not a 2nd yellow for Antony. A planted foot is a yellow any other time
Yeah, strange call. But it may be one of those double jeopardy things since we got the PK. I could be wrong, but I think there’s something about DOGSO resulting in a PK demotes it to a yellow card.
Wasn’t a dogso tho, that has different criteria. And as far as I know, a penalty kick doesn’t negate red on dogso, but I could be wrong.
I understand the double jeopardy argument but that shouldn’t negate the fact it was careless and late. It’s a bad foul in a bad place for the Timbers – in my mind there should be consequences.
A blatant DOGSO foul can still be a red card, right?
Ref shouldnt be afraid of doing his job.
Because you cannot award yellow cards on VAR. Only straight red cards. I think the long review was determining red and pk vs just a pk.
7 minutes of added time? I mean I know the review was long but this game has mostly been in play, i dont see 7 mins.
Fernandez just feels like Fontas 2.0
I’m relieved Fernández didn’t get red, and this is one of those awkward occurrences that shouldn’t be red. He wasn’t making a tackle on a player who had control of the ball, he had had control and he got to the ball first. The other player stuck his leg underneath Fernandez’s swing.
Geez these are absolute gifts of goals to the Timbers. Just silly mistakes.
Yeah sporting doesn’t even look bad it’s just dumb decisions and a not good defense
This has been a rough one for our rookies. Bartlett had poor positioning on the second goal and Jansen has made some pretty poor choices when playing in the back. That goal was super dumb on his part. I still like them, but these are some of the growing pains of playing the youth.
Now I feel prophetic in a bad way. I don’t know if I agree with the Shapi sub. I’d be fine with putting Thommy in the midfield to add pace, but Shapi has been super dangerous for us.
Pull Bartlett, shift Thommy, and stick Afrifa up top.
Agreed. Just like Besler and Zusi, these are the growing pains with developing players. The talent is there, but they need these games to help them realize those silly mistakes get you punished in this game.
That was fun first half. Giving up gifts of goals now so I think it’s safe to assume how the game is gonna end
LOL at that full closeup face shot of Pulskamp screaming “F*&% ME” or something close. So glad I turned this on at halftime thinking a 2-2 tie at the half looked promising.
Not sure I would have taken off Shapi in what has been his best game this season. What we need to do is get Joveljic on the ball.
I haven’t gotten that excited by a player’s individual skill running at goal since Nemeth put half of Portland’s defense on skates. That was awesome from Joveljic. And honestly, is something that I never saw from Pulido.
I will say, if we had gone down like that in the second half last year, I would have turned the game off. I’m at least interested in watching because of the new blood and, honestly, the new coach. KZ does seem to be tweaking things with an emphasis on more vertical passes and overloading the wings rather than just crossing. Frustrating one to lose, but again, our young guys have to get time to learn and they’re bound to mess up.
Same s*** different day!!!!!
