Favorite SKC memory: Witnessing Erik Thommy's goal in LA during the 2024 U.S. Open Cup. There was hope, there was joy, and I may have cried. Favorite KC Current memory: Getting to enjoy opening day of CPKC stadium with my dad, who bought us season tickets to FCKC in their Swope Park days

Coop is by far the most fun player to have watched grow and develop the past few seasons. Excellent work to assist that Chawinga goal.

Kat

Point still stands.

Wet water

Well deserved goal for her, she is unlucky not to have 3 assists already

Kat

CHAWINGA BRACE!

eta: or not.

I feel dumb being in here alone, but the Current look good. Give them a watch if you don’t already.

I don’t think Sporting will be up 3-0 at the half.

Lol, I think they will be down 3 nothing!!

David in the chat

Not quite. 🙂

If it means anything, I’ve missed seeing your takes on these threads, you’re one of the few levelheaded Sporting fans left.
But yes! It’s so cool having a team that’s fun to watch, in contrast to the mess Sporting is right now.

Kat

I appreciate that! I must confess my love of sporting has waned substantially, but I am a sicko in the sense I have to see if/how this rebuild goes!

ar_jhawk

You know, while watching the Current the thought crossed my mind to jump on the chat because at least Kat will be there, but I got distracted.

Very nice game though. Shoulda made it more

Kat

A part of me is still hoping to make this feel like TBT. It may be in vain, but…

That’s the goal!

First of all, LFG Current! Ditto about Cooper growing. She’s a bulldog of a player and so fun to watch.

second, I’m actually digging this SKC lineup, outside of Shelton at RB, but that’s not his fault and more the team not addressing a need in a serious way. Yes we have Brody, but he’s not an answer for us.

dancey.prancy

We actually have no idea if Brody is the answer, given that he got hurt before we could find out…although maybe that’s an answer in and of itself

Kat

I’m sorry, but Shelton is our Mighty Mouse and he 🎵is here to save the day🎵 no matter the position or rationale.

David in the chat

khiry has had a decent game.

jdkus11

That’s all he’ll ever have though. I’m sorry, it’s not hate, it’s just facts that he’s way overpaid. Which also isn’t his fault, it’s the guy who is unable to negotiate to save his life. $750k is absurd. That’s a decent 6. That’s two decent CBs. Again, nothing against him, but everything against his contract given his abilities.

David in the chat

Sure. But he’s out of contract at the end of the year. So his era as the scapegoat is nearing the end

jdkus11

Khiry is not the reason why this team is bad, but he definitely isn’t part of the solution.

Kat

So good to see Bia!

Questionmark

Great find by Shapi! Great finish by Salloi!

David in the chat

well that was a short lived lead.

Rosero stinks.

Stu

Perfect pass by Manu to Acosta didn’t help much

Kat

wtf. I am trying to watch the current, sporting, and Duke. I got up for 90 seconds… wtf is happening?!?!

GV dude

Skc is hot trash. Game over

Joe Pacheco

We f****** sucks!!!

Mister Murse

Sporting looks to be trying to play more direct. Unsure if that is a purposeful adjustment or not as it isnt being sustained. Of course, our mistakes are absolutely killing us and Dallas has players that are too good to let those opportunities slip by.

Rebuild or no rebuild – a lack of tactical flexibility has been a consistent weakness.

I heard/read that sporting seems to need so many things to go perfectly in order to score whereas every other team manages to score even when things aren’t going their way.

Kc current absolutely trounced Utah and provide a great mentality template that I want to see sporting players emulate. Attacking and defending as a team in transitions, purposeful possession that varies in attacking directness and intensity.

twmskc

Yeah, it seems like especially once Pulido was here, SKC went fully in that slow-build possession-style like they’re trying to be 2010 Spain. The problem is that takes incredible skill and attention to detail from every guy, and we’d have CBs lose the ball and give up easy goals, or get trapped trying to play short off a goal kick and lose the ball in our penalty box, and the payoff was it took 50 perfect passes to get a shot attempt. And the wingers never had accurate enough passing to create chances from the 25 long balls they lobbed in per game. It briefly changed with Thommy’s first few games in the lost 2022 season but they haven’t adapted the players or style to anything more consistent yet.

twmskc

The first Dallas goal: turnover in the Dallas half, 4 SKC players backpedaling with 2 Dallas players, 2 more SKC players jogging back toward the play. By time they took a shot, SKC had 5 + GK in the box around 2 guys and still gave up an easy look. Shelton was also jogging back but never made it to affect the play.

Ben Gartland

What happens first, SKC win or Current loss

SportsChum

Just want to apologize. I turned on the SKC game and was stunned too see them leading 1-0… but that only lasted a few more seconds. Don’t blame Vermes or anyone else. This one’s on me.
