on

It was a rough week for Sporting KC and Sporting KC II as the team lost three times this week across all competitions. Sporting KC II started the week with the team’s first foray into the US Open Cup against the Des Moines Menace. A pair of penalty kicks and a controversial no call on when a Des Moines player appeared offside saw Sporting fall 2-1. On Saturday, the first team extended their winless run this season to seven and to twelve going back to the end of the 2024 season in their 2-0 loss to Los Angeles FC. Then on Sunday Sporting KC II was back on the field in St. Louis taking on St. Louis City 2 at Energizer Park. Like the first team, they fell 2-0, their fourth straight loss to start the 2025 season.
