Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: Wins for Sporting

Sporting KC and Sporting KC II both picked up their first wins of the season. On Saturday in Carson, CA, the first team took down the LA Galaxy 2-1 on goals by Dejan Joveljic and the debuting Lasse Berg Johnsen. On Sunday at a snowy Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Sporting KC II also got a win 2-2 (3-0) in a shootout over the Colorado Rapids. Shane Donovan and Johann Ortiz, who had both been on the bench for the first team the night before scored for KC. In the shootout, Jacob Molinaro channeled Tim Melia and saved all three of the Rapids’ attempts to get them the second point in the shootout. Here are the stats and milestones from the games.

Lasse Berg Johnsen became the 300th player to appear in a game in all competitions for KC.

Berg Johnsen is the 23rd player to score in their first game for Sporting KC. He’s the 24th player to score in their first league game for KC.

He’s the 1st player to score on their debut since Alan Pulido and Gadi Kinda scored in their debuts against the Vancouver Whitecaps on 2/29/2020.

Berg Johnsen is the 1st Sporting player to score a goal for KC other than Dejan Joveljic since Mason Toye against Colorado on 8/30/25. Joveljic had scored 6 of the last 7 for KC in that stretch, the 7th was an own goal.

Dejan Joveljic scored his 21st goal in league play for KC, tying him with William Agada for 15th all time on that list.

It was his 21st in MLS competitions for KC, tying him with Agada, Teal Bunbury, and Mark Chung for 16th all time on that list.

It was his 21st in all competitions for KC as well, tying him with Chung and Chris Brown for 20th all time on that list.

Joveljic’s goal was his 8th away from home in league play for KC, tying him with Sasha Victorine, Ike Opara, and Roger Espinoza for 18th all time on that list.

At 19 years, 68 days, Shane Donovan is the 19th youngest player to score a goal in league play and in all competitions.
