KC Current
Cooper, Hutton Called Up to US Futures Camp

Yesterday, US Soccer announced their roster for the US Futures Camp taking place January 14th through the 21st at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The camp will run concurrently with the US Women’s National Team camp. The Kansas City Current will have two representatives at the Futures Camp, forward Michelle Cooper and midfielder, Claire Hutton.
It’ll be the closest both KC players have been to the full national team so far in their career. Cooper had captained the US U20 team at the 2022 World Cup in Costa Rica. Hutton spent time this summer with the U20 team at the 2024 version of the tournament in Colombia where the US women took third place.
Cooper had a solid second season in the NWSL, scoring three league goals and adding two assists in twenty-one appearances. She added another goal and two assists in the playoffs and Summer Cup as she played in twenty-eight of KC’s thirty-three games in all competitions.
Hutton had a break out season in her first as a professional soccer player. The midfielder played well beyond her years and immediately won a starting job in KC’s midfield. Her performance helped her to be named a finalist for US Soccer’s Young Women’s Player of the Year Award. Hutton played in twenty-nine games across all competitions for KC scoring her first professional goal in KC’s 4-1 win over Tigres in the Summer Cup.
The twenty-four players will be coached during the camp in tandem between US Women’s coach, Emma Hayes and the USA’s Youth National Team Coaches.
