Sporting Kansas City booked their spot in the 2024 US Open Cup final on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win at Children’s Mercy Park. Sporting got goals from Johnny Russell and Dany Rosero on their way to their win over USL Championship side, Indy Eleven. The win will see Sporting travel to Los Angeles to take on Los Angeles FC in September for the US Open Cup final. The win, combined with the win by LAFC sees Sporting KC qualify for the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup as LAFC has already qualified from one of the three Leagues Cup spots. Johnny Russell scored his 67th goal in all competitions, tying him with Dom Dwyer for 2nd all time on that list.

The goal was also Russell’s 14th game winning goal for KC in all competitions, tying him with Preki for 3rd all time on that list.

Alan Pulido made his 100th appearance in all competitions for KC, he’s the 50th player to reach that mark.

Daniel Salloi made his 18th appearance in the USOC (proper and qualifiers) breaking his tie with Kerry Zavagnin for 4th all time on that list.

It was Salloi’s 18th appearance in the USOC proper for KC, tying him with Matt Besler and Graham Zusi for 2nd all time on that list.
