The Shades of Blue pod is back for another episode but is very short-handed. Regular host Cody was unavailable and Robert and David were all occupied as well. Thad drafted Zachary Cobb to fill in and talk about Sporting Kansas City’s quarterfinal win in the 2024 US Open Cup. Zach was one of the few remaining fans who stuck around for the full match after a lengthy delay and extra time.

We discuss the impact of the weather delay and playing FC Dallas twice in a few days. The delay for lightening lasted over an hour and an already small crowd thinned out the weeknight crowd but the true fanatics stuck around.

It’s no secret that Sporting KC has struggled this season but has earned a few wins recently. Add in the magic of the Open Cup, players playing hard combined to bring an enjoyable atmosphere to the rainy Wednesday night. It was a late night for everyone

Sporting KC will face USL Championship side Indy Eleven on either August 27th or 28th in the semifinals.
