Stoppage time disappointment – Shades of Blue
Not a red card?
An exciting and disappointing match in Houston for the visiting Sporting Kansas City. They twice had the lead and twice gave up the equalizer late in each half. David Greenwald, Robert Rusert and Thad Bell talk about the draw with the Houston Dynamo and more. Our normal host was unavailable so the rest crew filled in without Cody.
Segment one:Â
Breakdown the game, the goals, and the substitutions. There was a lack of offense from anyone not named Gadi Kinda or Alan Pulido and a pair of defensive lapses in stoppage time that robbed Kansas City of a needed three points. Perhaps the biggest topic was a referee decision that did not affect the score. The fact that Ferreira escaped with a yellow after a big shove on Gadi Kinda is a topic. Can that call be defended?
Segment two:Â
Sporting KC’s odds to make the playoffs are on the rise. Will they be able to make it? It’s at 61% to make the playoffs per 538 and 52% to make round 1. The standings still look tough for Sporting KC with all the teams having games in hand.
Segment three:Â
Sporting KC designated player Alan Pulido has been hot since getting back into form. He kept the hot streak going with another two goals. A penalty but also a very nice combination with Kinda in the first half. It’s been debated before but does this streak mean Sporting KC should go all in to sign him? Can they sign him with possible competition from Mexico?
On Wednesday the annual Sporting KC Media Game will be the halftime entertainment. David is still jealous that he was not invited to the media game.

It was really nice to hear you guys expound on different views and have the “matured” response versus the “fan” response on some things. Being in-between has me loving that others have that duality also.
Also, no yes/no questions. Nice.
Houston earned their point, absolutely. But us dropping the 2 points was unacceptable. Vermes still fails to adapt the way he needs to, and the rigidity once again pre-empts the same tired conversations of “but why?”. The same with the Shelton situation. I think why Shelton comes up time and time again is that even non-soccer fans (my wife) can see just how he negatively impacts the games and is not delivering what the team needs while other people inexplicably ride the bench. The other stuff requires much more understanding and data mining, Shelton is just clear and obvious. How many games have we dropped points in stopped time or the last 5 minutes?
Also, If the next episode doesn’t contain 30+ minutes of media game discussion we riot. You built the expectation, now you have to deliver. I want xg/xa and more!
