A look back and forward in the soccer calendar. First up, the last week in matches of local interest.

May 15^th KC Courage 2-1 Sunflower State FC – WPSL

May 15^th Sunflower State FC 1-2 KC Courage – WPSL

A well-played game with two teams led by good coaches. Back-and-forth battle with a tight defense until the end.

May 17^th Sunflower State FC 1-2 Des Moines United FC – NPSL

Former SKC Academy player Collin Innes with the loan goal for Sunflower State FC at Des Moines.

May 20^th Sunflower State FC 3-1 Club Atletico St Louis – NPSL

Sunflower State won at home and was the only team to beat St Louis over the weekend with goals by Bryce Dickerson (23’), Caden McLagan (28’) and Tim Smith (15’)

May 20 Kansas City Sol 2-2 Demize NPSL

Sol took the lead twice with goals by Anthony Rangel (52’) and former SKC Academy player Roman Knox (75’). A red card in the 58^th minute on Sol midfielder Sean Brooks made it difficult for Kansas City in their first home game.

May 20^th Sunflower State FC 5-0 AFC Columbia – WPSL

May 20^th Sporting KC 0-4 St Louis MLS

SKC lost in the first round of the Dead Armadillo Derby, a little embarrassing for SKC and the referees. Tip of the hat to St Louis City SC (Square cuts?), they wanted it bad.

May 21^st KC Courage 1-1 Saint Louis Scott Gallagher- WPSL

May 21^st SKCII 2(4)-2(5) City 2 = MLS Next Pro

Feilhaber’s squad took the lead and showed how to play a St Louis team in the first half,  but they let the “City 2” boys into the game in the second half and eventually fell in the penalties.

Looking ahead. Every local team playing on Memorial Day weekend as well as both U.S. U20 teams.

May 26^th 1:00 PM USMNT vs Slovakia U-20 Men’s World Cup

Third game in the group stage. The US has already advanced to the knockouts after beating Ecuador 1-0 and Fiji 3-0. If they win the group they face the 3^rd place team from Group A/C/D. If they are second in the group they face the runner-up Group F.

May 26^th 5:00 PM USWNT vs Panama U20 CONCACAF Women’s Championship

The USWNT U20’s will play with a short timeline after the weather forced delays.

May 26^th 7:00 PM KC Current vs Houston Dash – NWSL

The Current need to get back on track before it is too late.

May 27^th 2:00 PM KC Courage vs Lou Fusz Athletic – Avila University – WPSL
