Turning the page on the worst week ever
The Shades of Blue Soccer Show examines three ugly losses in seven days for Sporting KC.
The Shades of Blue Soccer Show looks at what went wrong for Sporting KC and we try to quickly forget the worst week ever.
Three losses in seven days. One goal scored, nine conceded. The poorest showing being a 3-0 shutout at the hands of the second-tier Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the US Open Cup. Sporting KC now sit at the bottom of the West. The defense is leaking goals and the attack isn’t scoring any.
And yet.. it doesn’t feel as bad as last season, does it? Awful results continue, yes. But at least the club has a new direction. To be fair, any direction at all would have been an improvement. But Sporting KC have new management and new ownership ready to spend. Mallouk is out here reading subtweets promising us that change is coming!
There are many pessimistic ways of looking at the rest of the season, as we all cannot help but do. But sports are supposed to be fun, right? The show also examine why it doesn’t quite seem as dark this season, and how long we are going to have to wait for everything to turn around.
We also discuss the report from Tom Bogert that Sporting KC expressed interest in acquiring Cavan Sullivan on a short term loan. The Philadelphia Union quickly denied it. However, it might be a small positive sign for SKC fans.
Plus, we go around Major League Soccer and live vicariously through superior teams. Shoutout to Orlando City and their -19 goal differential. SKC sit level with them on points, but are still out of the Wooden Spoon spot.
