What you need to know about SE Palmeiras

Bia Zaneratto. Yes, the Bia. The Bia Zaneratto who spent two years in Kansas City dazzling with her creativity and holding up play as the Current’s primary striker. She returned to Brazil at the end of the 2025 season to join her old club, and KC fans will have a chance to see her face off against her former club.

SE Palmerias defeated Mexican Club América, 1-0, on Thursday to reach the championship game after a free-kick goal in the 68th minute. Defender Poliana, with a header, gave Palmeiras the goal they needed to advance to Sunday’s final. Palmeiras has won nine major trophies: Copa Libertadores Femenina title, Copa do Brasil, Supercopa do Brasil, four Campeonato Paulista titles, and two Copa Paulista titles.

What we’re watching

Head Coach Chris Armas went with a different roster on Thursday than we’re typically used to, and it made sense. It’s a friendly tournament that offers players who don’t see much playing time some minutes. Goalkeeper Marisa Jordan made her first start for the club, rookie forward Amelia White made her first professional start, defender Kolo Soliafu played the full game in her professional debut, and midfielder Avery Clark from the Kansas City Current II notched the game-winning goal on Thursday with a header. All three players impressed in their debut against a gritty Corinthians side.

Post-game on Thursday, Armas said that Temwa Chawinga and Lo’eau LaBonta would see minutes. And we will likely see the usual starters get some time. Obviously, time management is key to avoiding injury, so how much time each regular starter gets leaves us wondering. No doubt, Kansas City wants to win the Teal Rising Cup, especially after a tough start to the 2026 NWSL season.

Score prediction: 2-1, Kansas City
