The pressure is on for John Pulskamp

The Big Bear needs to prove he’s the keeper of the future before he becomes a free agent this offseason.

Now in his sixth season, the pressure is on for John Pulskamp as he faces free agency during a Sporting KC rebuild. This week on the Shades of Blue Soccer Show, Pulskamp leads the conversation after two costly mistakes in a 4-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids.

As this new Raphael Wicky team comes together and find it’s identity, we saw some brief glimpses of what this team may become. Unfortunately, they were short lived. The goal before half was quite nice. But when it seemed like Sporting KC had the momentum going into the break, disaster struck.

The crew talks about The Big Bear, his career so far, and where it goes from here. Do you still believe Pulskamp is the keeper for the future?

Sporting KC are now officially at the bottom of the West with 4 points through five games. We go around the entire weekend of Major League Soccer and give a wrap up of all the action. It was a wild couple days with tons of goals and a total of five red cards across the league.

Fan sentiment at the moment is obvious. Who can blame anyone for a lack of enthusiasm? Even opening night at Children’s Mercy Park was a disappointing crowd. But after one single win, Jake Davis sensed a change in the air on Saturday night.

It won’t take a lot to get the people of KC back on their side. This is a hungry fanbase. The show ends by discussing Davis’ sincerity and promise of improvement.

He needs to be humbled by being excluded from the 18 players who dress vs RSL.

I want to eat crow with regard to my opinion on Pulskamp. But I still don’t think he is a No1 at this time in his career.
Maybe he gets another start, but I hope the club gives some serious consideration to starting Cleveland.
