Our long national nightmare is over. The Kansas City Current have finally given the people what they want. A teal kit!

The KC Current “joined” the NWSL at the end of 2020 when the rights to the Utah Royals were moved back to Kansas City by owners Chris Long, Angie Long and Brittany Mahomes. While they wouldn’t get the branding as the “Current” until halftime of the final game of the season, “Teal” has been in their brand identity basically the whole time. There is Teal Mobile. Teal Time. Teal Town. Teal Rising. Teal Man. The list grows ever year.

Despite that, the team has primarily worn red and white with teal accents here or there. Teal creeped into shorts and socks, but season after season passed and there was no teal kit! That issue was solved on Thursday with the launch of the “Teal Town” secondary kit.

What the world has been waiting for. The Teal Town Kit is here.

“The 2025 Teal Town Kit has been years in the making, and we are so excited to give fans and players the full teal kit they’ve been waiting for,” said Kansas City Current Vice President, Head of Marketing Jocelyn Monroe. “The attention to detail within the design reflects the identity and values of the organization. The kit is tattooed with our city map, highlighting our pride in representing Kansas City.  This season, the team will literally carry the city across their hearts.”

Not only is the kit teal, but the shorts and socks are too. The teal quota will be filled in 2025.

On top of the design of the kit is a map of Kansas City and the Missouri river, which CPKC Stadium sits up against. The KC Current crest sits strategically on the map, right where the stadium sits. It’s a subtle, but strong design element from the Current.

If you swear you’ve seen this before, it did leak at the end of January, but this is giving us our first close look.

It’s all in the 𝓭𝓮𝓽𝓮𝓪𝓵𝓼 🥶

I've been covering Kansas City soccer since 2014, including Sporting Kansas City, the KC Current, SKC II and more. I'm based out of Kansas City, MO, but got my start covering SKC while writing from Phoenix, AZ.
