Last week, Shades of Blue sat down with the shot callers for Sporting KC, Mike Burns and Peter Vermes. Mr. Burns was very straightforward and gave us some really good insight into the way this new regime is operating, and their plan to get back to the top of Major League Soccer. Peter Vermes was, as always, a good interview as well. He tells us what he thinks of his new acquisitions on the field, why he’s happy Burns is handling the business side now, and he also had time to make fun of all of us as well.

We also give our reactions to our interviews with Daniel (Dan) Salloi and Erik Thommy. Is Salloi under pressure this year? Another season like last year could bring his contract into question.

A season preview isn’t complete without predictions to make everyone look bad in a few months. But we won’t give you the normal boring ideas. SOB finds some strange predictions for the 2025 MLS season.

Sporting KC will hit the ground running with four games in two weeks. We’re giving our Starting XI predictions against Inter Miami in the Champions Cup on Tuesday, as well as previewing the MLS opener on Saturday vs Austin FC.

Can Messi do it on snowy Tuesday across from a furniture store?
