World Cup 2026
Enter to win a Signed Club Jersey for Algerian Star Ibrahim Maza
Bayer 04 Leverkusen star, Ibrahim Maza and Algeria have an amazing story about their connection to Lawrence, Kansas where they are doing World Cup base camp.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen star, Ibrahim Maza and his Algerian teammates have made quite the connection to Lawrence, Kansas. The Algerian National Team is one of four World Cup nations that are making base camp in or around Kansas City.
A lot of the headlines are dedicated to the defending champions Argentina (Sporting Kansas City’s training center), the Oranje Army supporting the Netherlands (KC Current facilities) and the perennial contenders in the English national team (SKC II facilities).
But the best story is the connection between Algeria and the less than 100,000 residents in Lawrence, KS.
Lawrence is the home of the University of Kansas and Algeria are setting up camp at Rock Chalk Park. And the residents of Lawrence have come out to support their temporary visitors. The University of Kansas band learned the Algerian National Anthem and played it for them at their open training session.
And while FIFA mandated an open training session by every nation, Algeria took it a step farther. They had kids come on to the field and play with professional players in a moment they’ll surely remember forever.
The support has only grown since then. The watch parties have been wild.
Also, fans are going out of their way to show their support 40 miles East in Kansas City at the FIFA Fan Fest, including the “Algeria boys.”
How to Win the Ibrahim Maza Jersey
If you’ve been watching the Algeria games, then you have probably heard of Ibrahim Maza. He was the man of the match in the 2-1 win over Jordan. Maza plays his club football in Germany. Maza also made a beautiful pass on a goal that was ultimately called back for offside against the defending world champions, Argentina.
Maza’s club, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, loved the Algeria/Lawrence connection so much, they wanted to give away a signed Meza Leverkusen jersey.
