Current Sign All-American Suliafu
The Kansas City Current announced their latest addition to the team ahead of the 2026 NWSL season. KC announced the signing of college senior, Kolo Suliafu from the University of Washington.
Suliafu was a four year starters for the Huskies, making 81 appearances over her four years in Washington. In 2025 Suliafu helped lead Washington to the regular season Big Ten title as well as helping them win the Big Ten tournament, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Huskies made the Elite Eight, just short of a trip to KC for the College Cup, losing to Duke.
For her efforts in her senior season, Suliafu was named to the All-Big Ten First Team and was named the league’s Defender of the Year. She was named a first team All-North Region and second team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches. This is after she was named to the Big Ten’s second team and All-North Region third team as a junior in 2024.
Suliafu has spent time in the US Youth National Team system, both with the US U17s and with the U20s during her career.
She signs a one year deal with the Current through the 2026 NWSL season. Suliafu joins a defense that allowed the fewest goals in a season in NWSL, just thirteen goals in twenty-six games in 2025. She joins a center back group that includes NWSL Defender of the Year nominee, Kayla Sharples, Elizabeth Ball, and Gabrielle Robinson. Some time next year Kansas City will also get back Alana Cook to compete at the center back position.
