Across State Lines: Sanchez, Rubio to Face Off Against Bunbury in USOC Final

The US Open Cup final is set for 2025 and it’ll feature Austin FC hosting Nashville SC. Last week were the two semifinals with Nashville and the Philadelphia Union meeting on Tuesday (see last week’s Across State Lines for that entry) and Austin traveling to Minnesota United on Wednesday. Wednesday night in Minnesota, Austin scored in the 120th minute to send them to the final that they will host at Q2 Stadium. The US Open Cup final will feature four former Kansas City players on the field and a fourth player on the bench for Austin. Austin has three former players in Ilie Sanchez, Diego Rubio, and assistant coach, Davy Arnaud. On the Nashville side they have Teal Bunbury. All four of those former Kansas City players have previously won the US Open Cup with Kansas City: Arnaud in 2004, Bunbury in 2012, and Sanchez and Rubio in 2017.

Here’s the rest of this week’s update.
