Across State Lines: Women’s World Cup Kicks Off

The 2023 women’s World Cup has kicked off this past week in Australia and New Zealand with nine players with ties to Kansas City competing in the tournament across numerous national teams. Five of those nine players (Katie Bowen, Sinead Farrelly, Katrina Gorry, Mariana Larroquette, and Toni Payne) have made appearances already at the World Cup as all teams have played at least one game at this point. Then there’s also the coach of the US Women’s National Team, Vlatko Andonovski, who’s a former player and coach in the Kansas City area.
