Former Players
Across State Lines: Busio Called Back to US Team
With European seasons winding down, summer international duty is taking center stage with CONCACAF Nations League, the Gold Cup, Euro Qualifiers, and the women’s World Cup all coming this summer. Former Kansas City players will be represented in a number of the different competitions for national teams this summer. It was announced this week that former Sporting KC HomeGrown Player, Gianluca Busio has been named to the US roster for the upcoming Gold Cup that kicks off on June 24th. Busio will have the chance to earn his first cap since a World Cup qualifier against Panama in March of 2022.
Elsewhere, former Kansas City players have been named to preliminary rosters for the women’s World Cup. They haven’t yet been named to their country’s roster for the tournament but will be one of the ones fighting for a spot. Three former FC Kansas City players have been called in with Tiffany Cameron on Jamaica’s list, Sinead Farrelly on Ireland’s list, and Desiree Scott on Canada’s list. A former KC Current player has also been called in as Sydney Schneider will join Cameron in camp for Jamaica.
In Europe, former Sporting defender, Nicolas Hasler has been called in for the Liechtenstein national team as they play Euro qualifiers against Luxembourg and Slovakia.
