Where the heck is Rosero.
Good start! Beautiful header
Alas, that didn’t age well…
But perhaps VAR will save it.
Wow, that was close! A bad call actually went our way
I have no clue how it was offside. I’ll take it, but I think Vancouver was hard done there.
Yikes. id be mad too if I was a whitecaps fan. But honestly, we deserve it given the terrible calls we got the past couple of games.
No way that goal should be waived off. A rare time terrible reffing goes SKC’s way.
Castellanos scares the living daylights out of me…
Game should be 1-1. But I’ll take a bad call our way for once.
Goodness, this MLS schedule is brutal man. What is this six games in just two weeks? It’s just a setup for injuries.
Dang. Against Dallas, the commentators pointed out how deep we are at fullback. So of course, Zusi and Ndenbe promptly get injured
Random thoughts:
-Turf sucks
-I liked our old away jerseys better where the shirt color matched the shorts. These ones just look like we packed the wrong shorts by accident lol
They’re supposed to. But since Vancouver’s home kit includes dark shorts, SKC has to switch to light shorts for this matchup. We’ve had to do it one or two other times this year but I think this might be the last one? It’s annoying AF though
Ah didn’t think of that, makes sense. Annoying indeed. I’m pretty sure all of our road unis so far this season have either been the all light blue or this awkward mix and match, so I was worried it was the new look haha
I think it happened with the home kits too against the Rapids maybe? Since Colorado uses light blue shorts I think we had to mix and match light tops with dark shorts.
Yep. Confirmed. When SKC played Colorado at home earlier this year we wore hoops with dark shorts instead of the sporting blue shorts.
Dang that’s right. All of the games are running together in my head. I also recall we did wear all navy at home against Montreal. I wonder if conflicting shorts color is really that big a deal for the players? Like as fans watching we’re not going to get confused, but maybe it’s different for players?
That’s a good question. I’ll have Thad or Cody ask at the next Tuesday Training pod they do. I feel like this isn’t an issue in other leagues.
Thanks!
The injuries we have are pretty crazy. Our backline is on their last breath before we’re really grasping at straws to form a backline.
Hasn’t really been tested, but Voloder looks sharp. Wonder if this sub will get him out of the doghouse.
This didn’t age well, Josh.
Nope it didnt. I was just gonna say that. lol I shouldve known better.
I guess, I shouldn’t be surprised, but Vermes clearly doesn’t trust Afrifa. He hasn’t played a single minute of this 3 game week despite injuries.
I just realized, if you watch the formation on the right side, Tzionis actually very often switches to an attacking midfielder position and lets Thommy play on the wing. I actually think the camera caught PV earlier in the game telling Thommy and Tzionis to switch places. Watching him play, I like Tzionis a lot better in attacking midfield if he’s on the right.
He switched wings with Salloi for 10 or so minutes for a stretch of the game
Yeah, I wanted to see more of that. The left wing is probably Tzionis best position overall, but he just isnt going to get much time there while Salloi is healthy.
With all these mid-week games since Afrifa joined the team he has barely had a chance to practice.
This is definitely a fair point. Though neither did agada and thommy when they joined.
So, the waived goal due to offsides/interface is legitimately correct call. With the goalkeeper being pushed up he becomes the 2nd to last man creating the offside line. Which castellanos becomes the “goalkeeper” which you can’t have any form of interference with the last man. So that being said VAN player did have interference causing him to trip.
Yea, even though it didn’t happen at the same moment of the shot, it happened close enough to where potentially impacted positioning and readiness.
Hopefully we can get out of there with 1 point at least.
We didn’t distinctly deserve 3 points, but we should have left with them. That tackle has to be better timed in that situation
Didn’t even need to be made. It was heading deep and away from goal. Just shade him towards the end line and make it hard on him.
Agreed, seeing it again on the highlights it was a frantic tackle by voloder, no need to go to ground there
And he barely escaped a booking earlier with a stupid tackle through the back of both legs. I was a little surprised it was not flagged for review based on how reckless and dangerous it was.
I think he is (deservedly) going back in the dog house for this.
Thats what I was thinking was the case, but I wasn’t sure. Voloder has at least 1 or 2 of those very inexperienced moves per game, and they consistently cost us.
I think he’s been a bust of a U-22 signing. He’s just not showing the growth and development you need to see.
My memory might be wrong, but wasn’t he trending up near the end of last season? Unfortunately he’s regressed a lot this season
I think technically yes, he was trending up, but he was still making the same mistakes. His positioning and awareness has gotten a bit better (he used to look clueless as to where the ball was), but I think that’s where the growth has stopped.
My god McIntosh made my heart jump there. He’s been a good fill in overall but it seems like he has a hiccup or two per game in him. Vermes has his work cut out trying to put together the back line for next game; at least we don’t play midweek.
I know the announcers were big on McIntosh but I don’t get it. He prefer to punch or parry stuff that Tim would just catch. That last pass that led to a shot should have been a goal. It was criminally stupid.
Between he and Robby, they tried their damndest to drop all 3 points.
that last pass was bad, but he made 3 or 4 awesome plays…the close range tip to the post, came off his line perfectly several times, etc
And he has much better feet than pulskamp imo
