Former Players
Across State Lines: Busio, Venezia Make Promotion Playoff
While last week was bad news for a former Kansas City player, with Erik Palmer-Brown and Troyes relegated from Ligue 1 in France, there was better news this week for another former player. Gianluca Busio and Venezia FC have qualified for the Serie B promotion playoffs after finishing in eighth place. They will face off with against Cagliari in a one leg series, with the winner facing off against Parma in the playoff semifinals. That series will be a home-home series with the winner heading to the playoff final, which is another home-home series. Veneiza had a late season run that saw them go from being a potential relegation candidate to get into the playoffs. Unfortunately for Busio, his role during the run has predominately been as a substitute for Venezia.
In other news this week, former Sporting KC defender, Nicolas Hasler and his club, Vaduz won the Liechtenstein Cup this past week with a 4-0 win over Balzers.
Here’s the rest of this week’s update.
