Sporting KC sign 24-year-old Angolan winger Capita Capemba

Sporting Kansas City is adding speed to its attack with the signing of 24-year-old Angolan winger Osvaldo Pedro Capemba, also known as Capita.

Capita joins Kansas City from Polish club Radomiak Radom. According to his former club, Capita’s transfer fee of $2.3 million, plus bonuses is the largest in the Polish club’s history. (If it’s €2.3m, then that’s approximately $2.63m USD).

“Capita is a quick, direct and dynamic winger who will add an attacking threat to the squad, while his ability to play anywhere across the frontline will be valuable for our coaching staff. He joins us in the midst of an excellent season in Poland and already has extensive experience in multiple different leagues, clubs and countries,” President of Soccer Operations & General Manager David Lee said. “At the age of 24, Capita is another player who is choosing to represent Sporting KC for the prime years of his career.”

In his past two seasons in Poland, Capita tallied 12 goals in 38 appearances. The 24-year-old speedster has also scored earned capped for the Angolan national team, including at the U17 level where he represented his country at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations and U17 FIFA World Cup.

Capita was born and raised in Luanda, Angola and began his soccer career with Academia de Futebol de Angola, C.D. Marinha and Primeiro de Agosto before jumping to Europe in 2020 joining Portuguese club Trofense. After a six-month stint in Portugal, Capita made a move to Lille B of France with loans out to Mouscron (Belgium) and once again to Trofense.

His performance during his loans earned him a transfer to Estrela da Amadora in Portugal, ending in a loan to Israeli club Hapoel for the 2023-24 season where he scored one goal.

For the 2024-25 season, Capita made the leap to Poland’s topflight, scoring six goals in 17 appearances in his first campaign with Radomiak Radom.

Pending his P1 visa, Capita will join Dejan Joveljic, Shapi Suleymanov, Taylor Calheira, Stephen Afrifa, and Calvin Harris as forwards under head coach Rapha Wicky. Sporting Kansas City have scored two goals in three games this season, both coming in a 2-2 draw against the Columbus Crew.
