This has nothing to do with this game, but did anyone see Ilie’s cornrows today? He had to have lost a bet.
let’s go Sporting!!!
Sooooo bad. Doesn’t even come close to Benny’s millet and mustache.
Mullet**
I have no commentators. I can’t tell if this is a plus or minus
Walther and Tommy are inverted…. interesting..
just curious, does houston normally not draw a crowd at games? Kind of surprised how sparse their stadium is for home opener. Maybe we’re just spoiled with SKC
I was thinking that it looked full for a Houston game. Normally it is emptier to me.
I didn’t know if this comment was trolling Houston or not.
No, they don’t sell out. I don’t even think they were sold out in the playoffs (at least there were a ton of empty seats).
pulido has to do better there
Yea, a fair amount of turnovers from him this half. Not looking remotely dangerous.
VAR for Best XI
I liked the long ball attempts from Jake Davis. It shows me he is looking for that space.
I see some crossing movement from our attackers, but it kind of seems like going through the motions instead of seizing the opportunity of space. It also doesn’t seem super intention (with a few exceptions).
Does Radoja also seem a bit slow? I just think we struggled with a consistent outlet option.
that diagonal switch was a staple of Zusi’s game. Hopefully JD is trying to emulate Graham.
Last year was pretty much defensive positioning. Maybe this year he gets to work on the vision and attack
Boring first half. Bogus VAR call, but I’ll say it’s retribution for the semifinal.
Yeah, I was wondering as well how they called that part of the attacking phase. Definitely a missed call for offsides but surprised they considered that part of the buildup. Not complaining though!
The missed call affected the possession and definitely would have killed the attack. Considering they maintained possession from it – good call.
I think mainly I was just unaware of how far back they actually look to check for offsides before they consider it not to be the attacking phase
I go back to the Shelton call. Up to 1 minute.
Yeah, I’m not sure there is a limit. I was concerned that because Sporting KC got a fumbly touch in there they’d say possession was broken but it defiitely impacted the play and I’m glad they got it right.
Glad to see the subs
Holy crap. Before the 60th minute. I think a fire is under Peter’s ass.
What a well place shot!
THOMMY
Yasssssssds Thommyyyyyyy
I can see openings coming for Afrifa.
Two failures to track the man. Not sure if that is afrifa or davis. Then our CBs on the second header?
Probably a little bit of both. Davis never turned to see the man behind him and he was too far inside. Afrifa isn’t going to track back that far but he either needs to say something to Davis or follow him.
Definitely hard to pin solely on one.
Yeah, Davis loses his guy, but that’s just a really well done sequence from Houston. I look at little at the left side of the defense too for losing their runner. Leibold is tired and doesn’t get back. Maybe Remi should be tracking into that space too as the midfielder on that side.
Plenty of blame to go around but a really nice sequence from the Dynamo.
We look backward so much that houston are starting to cheat and not cover goal side.
Afrifa’s speed! Shoulda carried further tho.
Did anyone else hear Kyndra de St. Aubin’s super strong Wisconsin accent come out when she pronounced “diagonal” in a truly insane way?
are we playing for the draw? Melia took like 30 seconds to take that goal kick
Sort of disappointed with us shutting off the attack there at the end with all of that pace we subbed on
We were getting too stretched and Houston had advantage, but I also agree with you. Slowing the game made sense, but we stopped looking for the opportunity to use that speed.
I know the goal wasn’t on any one person, but Fontas certainly didn’t help. He’s so susceptible to backpost runs. Really disappointed we’ve done nothing to upgrade his position.
