Wow, I didn’t realize this game was a two-for-one!
It’s still pre-season for me too!
4-4-2??? What is happening??? Somebody check on PV and make sure he’s ok
Miami is definitely overloading SKC’s right side. Their high counter-press is giving Sporting fits. Both teams playing not to freeze.
Whereas almost all SKC’s attacks are going up their left side through Thommy. Salloi remaining mostly invisible.
Honestly a pretty reasonable half. Feels like Miami are struggling with how different the ball feels when it’s this cold; lots of mis-hits.
So this is what football is like with a medicine ball? I bet headers are extra fun tonight.
So much of our offense is running through Thommy at the moment. I’m really liking Joveljic’s movement right now. Unfortunately, we haven’t really had any good looks.
And Thommy has been fairly isolated for most part. There was one overlap I can think of that seems like it ended in a corner kick. It feels like the kind of game where if we can get Vargas or Afrifa on and just get a clean , quick counter it would be SKC’s best chance of scoring.
Bartlett stepped on Messi’s foot just so he could help him up and forever say he held Messi’s hand!
If Luis Suarez bit someone’s ear in these temperatures, would it bleed? (I say that affectionately as a long-time Liverpool fan.)
That was such a good look, but Salloi literally hit that straight at the keeper. That was painful to see after watching Messi hit an impossible angle.
It just emphasizes the gulf between the finishing ability of SKC and the top MLS teams. I don’t see enough creativity and danger between Thommy and Salloi to have confidence that our new attacking players will get the kind of service they need to score a lot.
He’s picking up right were he left off last year!!
I know it is cold, but it just feels like the passing efficiency has been especially bad. I haven’t checked stats, but I would guess maybe 80%. It’s super early, but this team has a long way to go with regard to attacking fluency. It didn’t feel like there was a shared idea of how they wanted to attack the game. The club didn’t improve the danger in the wings in the off-season. More Salloi and Thommy is not a winning formula.
More so Salloi. He’s been a total non-factor for the past few seasons, at minimum
He needs to ride the pine!!
That was classic Messi. You can contain him for 89:30 and in that remaining 00:30 he pulls something special out of nowhere and changes the whole game. I’ve come to hate how his presence has warped the league, but on the field he’s still a special player to watch.
SKC looked like what they are, a team that made major changes from a bad season last year and have some work to do to play as a cohesive new team.
