Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: Marques Closes in on Century Mark

Published

on

The Kansas City Comets didn’t have a great Valentine’s Day on Saturday night at Cable Dahmer Arena as they fell in a shootout to the San Diego Sockers after a 6-6 draw through regulation and overtime. Goals by Zach Reget (two), Ignacio Flores, Rian Marques, David Stankovic, and Dominic Francis weren’t enough. The goal by Marques brings him closer to his 100th league goal for KC. It’s the first of five games for the Comets against the Sockers in their final eight games of the regular season. The one point from the shootout loss puts the Comets back in front of the MASL standings currently, but they’ve also played three or four more games than any other team in the league at this point. They sit one point ahead of the Milwaukee Wave in second place, and just two points ahead of the Sockers who sit in third at the moment.

Here are the stats and milestones from the game.

Comets

David Stankovic’s goal was the 1,300th league goal at home for KC.

Rian Marques scored his 98th league goal for KC, tying him with Ramone Palmer for 7th all time on that list.

Marques made his 94th league appearance for KC, breaking his tie with Nicolau Neto for 14th all time on that list.

It was his 113th appearance in all competitions, breaking his tie with Neto for 13th all time on that list.

Zach Reget’s 2 goals gave him 91 in all competitions for KC, moving him ahead of Lucas Sousa and into 10th all time on that list.

Lucas Sousa made his 96th league appearance for KC, tying him with Christian Anderaos for 12th all time on that list.
