Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded the latest episode of The Blue Turf for the 2023-24 season and we are again NOT at the now “World Famous” Kansas City Soccer Dome.

The Comets started the season strong but have hit a winless skid since their last home game. After an overtime loss to Utica City FC at home, the Comets suffered a pair of defeats in Monterrey, and then a loss at Chihuahua. The Comets returned home to rest up before heading out to face Utica again. On the road at Utica was going well with the score level. Utica ended up scoring three goals in less than a minute and the Comets were unable to bounce back.

The Comets have an opportunity Friday when they go on the road to Baltimore. The Blast have struggled and are just below Kansas City in the standings. A win there would go a long way towards not just getting on the right side of the scoresheet but keeping the Comets in a playoff position as well. Can Kansas City’s veteran target forwards all get in a groove? Can legendary forward Leo Gibson keep up the scoring streak?
