Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: The Losing Streak Ends

The Kansas City Comets returned home this week after their long road trip. On Friday night they extended their franchise worse losing streak to eight with a 5-5 (2-1) shootout loss to the Tacoma Stars. On Saturday night against the Empire Strykers though the Comets finally ended their losing streak in comfortable fashion as they defeated the Stykers 7-2 to improve their record to 8-6-3 on the season. The win was important for the Comets as their season schedule doesn’t get much easier. They’ll first take on the Chihuahua Savage at home next Friday before starting a West Coast road trip against the San Diego Sockers and the Strykers. Here are the stats and milestones from this weekend’s games.

Ignacio Flores made his 164th appearance in all competitions for KC, tying him with Brian Harris and Bryan Perez for 7th all time on that list.

Rian Marques’s goal was his 46th in league play for KC, breaking his tie with Kiel Williams for 13th all time on that list.

His 2 assists gave him 19 in league play for the Comets, moving him pass Zach Reget for 18th all time on that list.

The 2 assists gave Marques’s 20 in all competitions for KC, moving him into a tie with Max Touloute for 18th place all time on that list.

Marques’s 3 points gave him 75 in all competitions, moving him ahead of Geison and into 14th place all time on that list.

Lucas Sousa made his 82nd appearance in all competitions, breaking his tie with Mirko Sandivari for 19th all time on that list.

For the first time in the Comets history, they fielded a team that didn’t include Leo Gibson or John Sosa. In the club’s 332 previous games one of the two had always been in the game day roster.

Sousa’s first goal was the game winner, it was his 7th game winner in league play for KC, breaking his tie with Touloute for 7th all time on that list.

It was Sousa’s 7th game winner in all competitions for KC, breaking his tie with Harris for 8th all time on that list.

Flores made his 165th appearance in all competitions, breaking his tie with Harris and Perez for 7th all time on that list.

Robert Palmer recorded his 37th assist in league play for KC, breaking his tie with Ray Lee for 10th all time on that list.

Ramone Palmer made his 208th appearance in all competitions, breaking his tie with Brian Haynes and Tim Clark for 18th all time on that list.

Nicolau Neto took the loss in goal last night, his 30th loss in league play for KC indoor teams. Tying him with Chris Damico for 7th all time on that list.

It was Neto’s 35th loss in all competitions, tying him with Ed Gettemeier for 6th all time on that list.
